CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa -- Anyone who's been involved with basketball will tell you that it's tough to beat a team three times in one season.

The Simpson women's basketball team proved that on Tuesday.

Just three days after a humbling 28-point loss to Coe in the regular season finale, the sixth-seeded Storm used a career-high 28 points from Noreen Morrow to knock off the third-seeded Kohawks in overtime, 90-85, in the first round of the Iowa Conference Tournament. With the win, Simpson advances to the semifinals to play second-seeded Luther on Thursday, Feb. 22 in Decorah.

Morrow grabbed eight rebounds and went 12-for-19 from the field for the Storm (14-12), who entered the postseason losing five of their last six games. Jenna Taylor came off the bench to score 22 points and Victoria Hazard added 13 and five assists.

Coe led 81-76 with 2:26 left in overtime when Janey Botkins hit a 3 to open a 9-0 run. Morrow converted a layup to tie the game and Botkins hit the go-ahead 3 to make it 84-81 with 1:02 left.

Simpson made its last five free throws to secure its first win in the IIAC Tournament since 2013.

Jenna Lehman scored 20 points to lead five players in double figures for the Kohawks (14-12), who swept the regular season series with the Storm.

Simpson led throughout regulation and was up 62-58 with just over 3 minutes to play. Coe rallied and forced overtime when Aleena Hobbs' game-tying layup made it 71-all with 7 seconds left.

Coe jumped out to a five-point lead in overtime, but Taylor made a 3 and a layup to keep Simpson within striking distance. Botkins made two of her three tryes during the Storm's deciding run.

Simpson earned a win as the No. 6 seed for the first time in its IIAC Tournament history, the only other attempt being a loss to Coe in the first round of the 2015 tournament.
