WORCESTER – Senior Ama Biney (Worcester, MA) scored seven of WPI's 12 points in the decisive third quarter as the Engineers pulled away with a 54-38 NEWMAC Women's Basketball victory at Clark Saturday inside the Kneller Center.

Biney finished with 15 points, six rebounds, four assists and three steals. Senior Maura Buckley (Melrose, MA) added seven points as classmates Madison Beck (Syracuse, NY) and Stasha Greenalch (Newington, CT) each scored six and doled out four helpers. Beck also led the Crimson and Gray with nine boards. Freshman Maddie Blake (Bedford, NH) paced the reserves with eight points and four rebounds, as well as an assist and a steal.

Clark junior Ogechi Ezemma (Hope Valley, RI) registered a game-best 19 points and team-best nine rebounds to go with three swipes. Freshman Idalis Miranda (Naugatuck, CT) and junior Maya Kerstetter (Northampton, MA) each grabbed five defensive rebounds as senior Haley Wilder (Rindge, NH) totaled five for the Cougars. Miranda, senior Dominique St. Pierre (Portsmouth, NH) and Kerstetter (3 steals) combined for 10 of the team's 12 helpers.

Trailing by one heading into the third thanks to a late jumper by Ezemma, WPI went on a 12-0 run, and held Clark off the scoreboard, in the third. The Cougars cut its deficit in half with a 6-0 run midway through the fourth only to see their guests score the last 10 points of the game.

Clark, who was coming off an overtime win versus league-leading Springfield, owned the first quarter. Ezemma led the way with eight of the team's 16 points while Buckley netted seven of WPI's nine. Six different Engineers scored at least a pair as the Crimson and Gray outscored the Cougars 16-10 in the second.

The Engineers led in most categories including a margins of 17-8 in bench points and 15-9 off turnovers. Clark recorded 14 of the game's 17 second chance points.

WPI (18-5, 11-3) hosts Wellesley and Clark (10-13, 4-10) travels to Coast Guard Wednesday at 7:30pm.
