The No. 19 ranked University of Wisconsin-Whitewater women's basketball team downed UW-Stout (7-14 overall, 0-10 WIAC), 94-52, in a Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference contest on Saturday afternoon at Kachel Gymnasium.
The Warhawks (18-3 overall, 8-2 WIAC) recorded 94 points in the matchup, which was their most in a single game since scoring 96 points on November 4, 2015, against Illinois Wesleyan.
Senior guard Brooke Trewyn recorded a double-double with 13 points, 11 rebounds and five assists. Senior forward Andrea Meinert added 13 points and six rebounds, and sophomore guard Becky Raeder tallied 11 points.
UW-Whitewater gained the lead, 5-4, with a free-throw by Trewyn and held the lead the entire game from that point on. Junior Sarah Schumacher finished inside three minutes remaining in the period to give the Warhawks a seven-point lead, which was their largest in the quarter.
The Warhawks extended their lead in the second quarter, outscoring the Blue Devils 26-16. UW-Whitewater started the period with an 8-0 run that included a basket inside from Meinert.
Trewyn drained a 3-pointer with 2:32 left in the half to give UW-Whitewater a 22-point lead. A layup from Sarah Schumacher gave the Warhawks their final basket of the half.
Raeder scored seven of her 11 points in the third quarter, including a 3-pointer with three minutes left in the period to give the UW-Whitewater a 25 point lead.
Trewyn found freshman guard Rebekah Schumacher behind the arc for another 3-pointer to give the Warhawks a 68-39 lead heading into the fourth quarter.
UW-Whitewater extended the lead to as much as 46 points in the fourth quarter. Freshman guard Emily Schumacher found junior guard Juliette Vainisi behind the arc and Vainisi sank the bucket for the Warhawks.
With five minutes remaining in the contest, Rebekah Schumacher found sophomore forward Morgan Rosencrants inside, and Rosencrants finished the basket to give UW-Whitewater a 82-45 lead.
Junior guard Emily Kraft earned a trip to the line with a minute remaining in play and gave the Warhawks a 94-50 lead.
UW-Whitewater recorded 19 assists, and 20 players tallied minutes in the contest. The Warhawks shot 8-of-15 and 53.3 percent behind the arc and 48.5 percent from the floor in the matchup.
The Warhawks continue play Wednesday, Feb. 7, at 7 p.m. at No. 13 UW-Oshkosh.
