MILWAUKEE, WI - The Benedictine University women's basketball team came up just short in an attempt to rally at MSOE

• MSOE scored the first four points of the contest and did not trail
• MSOE led 9-2 three minutes into the game
• A three-point play from Allison Michalski brought Benedictine within 13-9 at the 4:23 mark of the first quarter but MSOE led by 11 late and took a 22-14 edge into the second
• Down 12 early in the second, two free throws from Michalski pulled Benedictine within 29-24
• Georgia Alexakos made a jumper in the final minute of the half to make the score 37-31 headed into the break
• Alexakos opened the second half with a three-point play and twice Benedictine fought to within two points at 39-37 on three from Alena Moro and 42-40 on a triple from Venita Parsons
• The hosts responded each time and opened a 58-48 lead late in the third
• Trailing 65-52 with 4:51 to play, Benedictine battled within seven points four times but could pull no closer
• The 79 points mark the most allowed in a game this season
• Benedictine made just three first-quarter field goals and shot only 26.9 percent in the first half but finished at 33.3 percent for the contest
• Benedictine held a 47-40 edge on the glass but could not overcome 19 turnovers
• Two MSOE players combined to score nearly 2/3 of the total points
• D'Asia Williams paced Benedictine with 18 points and nine rebounds
• Parsons finished with 17 while Alexakos picked up 12
Benedictine (15-6, 12-4 NACC) travels to Concordia Wisconsin on Wednesday night
