Nor'easters defeat Bison, 85-57

BIDDEFORD, Maine -- The University of New England tallied the first 13 points of the contest and coasted to an 85-57 Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) women's basketball victory over Nichols College on Thursday evening (Feb. 1) at the Harold Alfond Forum.

Olivia Shaw led the Nor'easters (15-5, 11-2 CCC) with 19 points, 14 rebounds, five steals, and four assists. Both Jocelyn Chaput and Ashley Coneys tossed in 15 points, while Sam MacDonald contributed 12 and Madison Lyman totaled seven off the bench.

Shaw accounted for 11 of UNE's 25 offensive caroms, which aided the 52-28 advantage on the glass. The hosts also converted 24 Bison turnovers into 37 points.

For Nichols (3-17, 1-12 CCC), Isabella Nerney recorded 18 points and seven rebounds. Allison Cerrato scored 15 on 6-of-8 shooting from the field before fouling out early in the 4th period.

The Nor'easters, who now share the top spot in the league standings with five games remaining, will go visit the Bison on Saturday (1 p.m.).
