William Paterson Women’s Basketball Falls Short in Second Half at Rowan, 70-48

GLASSBORO, N.J. – William Paterson (10-8, 7-4 NJAC) saw its four-game win streak snapped as host Rowan (11-6, 8-3 NJAC) pulled away during the second half for a 70-48 women's basketball victory Jan. 20.

 

Junior guard CeCe Green notched 11 points and seven rebounds, while classmate Ashley Castillo collected 11 tallies and six boards. Junior guard Julie Rovito added 10 points, six rebounds and four steals.

 

The Profs turned a 19-17 edge at the end of the first quarter into a 34-28 halftime advantage behind a +6 margin for points scored in the paint. Rowan registered the final four points of the third period (49-36), then began the fourth quarter with a 10-4 run for a 59-40 lead with 6:10 remaining.

 

Senior center April Szymczyk led the Profs with 20 points, 10 rebounds and five assists. Sophomore guard Dominique Peters chipped in 14 tallies and four steals.

 

William Paterson will host New Jersey City Wednesday, Jan. 24, at 6:00 p.m.
