Ripon Wins Fifth Straight Game

RIPON, Wis. - Two and a half weeks into the year 2018, and Ripon's women's basketball team have still not lost a game, defeating Finlandia University 69-45 Wednesday night to extend their season-long win streak to five games. The Red Hawks recorded 62 rebounds in the game, which is the sixth-highest single game total in program history.

Ripon (10-5) took control of the game early, holding Finlandia (4-14) to just 17 percent (5-30) shooting in the first half. After trailing 3-2 in the opening minutes, Ripon ended the first quarter on a 21-2 run to take a commanding 18 point lead into the second quarter. Ripon led by double digits the rest of the way, taking a 36-18 lead into halftime.

The second half saw Ripon continue to dominate, taking their largest lead of 30 on a jumper by Eleanore Mueller in the final minutes of the third quarter. After a few Finlandia baskets, Ripon took another 30-point lead late in the fourth quarter on a 3-pointer by Dasia Davis, which helped the Red Hawks coast to victory.

Twelve different players scored at least two points for Ripon, which shot 35 percent (28-81) from the field. Mueller led the way with her third career double-double, as she posted 13 points on 5-of-7 shooting, to go along with a game-high 12 rebounds. Maggie Oimoen added 10 points and nine rebounds (five offensive), while Molly Cullinane tied career-highs with eight points and five rebounds.

Finlandia was led by Julia Daavettila's 20 points and seven rebounds, while Kelsie Richards finished with 11 points and five boards. Molly Berg also chipped in with seven points and five rebounds for the Lions.
