Baruch Defeats John Jay in Low-Scoring Affair

The Baruch College Bearcats held John Jay College to 32 points to record a 42-32 CUNYAC home win on Thursday night in the ARC Arena.

The Bearcats led from start to finish en route to evening their conference record to 3-3.

The visiting Bloodhounds trailed by two points (11-9) midway through the second period, but the Bearcats took control to take a 19-11 halftime lead. They had to fend off several rallies, including the Bloodhounds getting as close as 36-31 with 6:32 left in the fourth period, but the Bearcats ended the contest by scoring six of the final seven points to seal the win.

Melinda Spahiu narrowly missed with a double-double with 16 points and nine rebounds to go along with three steals.

Shannon Barrett recorded another double-double with 10 points and 16 rebounds. The senior from Middle Village has now totaled 34 rebounds in her last two contests.

Kaitlin Koehler and Jessica Gorman each grabbed 14 rebounds for the visitors from uptown Manhattan.
