Tigers Hold Off Beavers

LOS ANGELESTala Ismail and the Occidental women's basketball team held off Caltech for a 74-70 road win on Wednesday.

Ismail, who is known for filling up the stat sheet, scored 19 points on 7 for 11 shooting, grabbed eight rebounds and had four steals in just 24 minutes. 

Alyssa Ramlochan chipped in nine points, seven rebounds and six assists for the Tigers.

Shariah Green had 14 points, six rebounds and a pair of clutch free throws with less than 20 seconds left to give Oxy a three-point lead.

Madison Toy scored 10 points off the bench for Oxy and Grace Baranowski had 12 points and five rebounds.

The Tigers never trailed in the fourth quarter. 

Caltech was led by Samantha D'Costa who scored a game-high 23 points. Nika Haleftiras and Grace Peng each scored 16.

Season Impact: The Tigers improve to 8-6 overall and 3-3 in SCIAC.

Caltech falls to 2-11 and 1-5.

Next Game: Oxy is back in action on Saturday against Pomona-Pitzer at 4 p.m.
