The Pfeiffer women's basketball team took home another win tonight as they defeated NC Wesleyan by a score of 76-64. The Falcons improve their record to an impressive 8-1 on the season, while the Battling Bishops fall to 5-8. Dajea Scott was the top scorer for Pfeiffer with 15 points, including going 5-8 from the field. The Falcons win streak improves to 5 games with the win.
Pfeiffer had four double-digit scorers on the night, including Scott, Grayson Harris, A'Mya McClain, and Sydni Bickford. Harris and McClain combined for 26 points, while Bickford added 11 of her own. The Falcon bench combined for 18 points and played a key role in the victory.
On the night, Pfeiffer shot 50 percent from the field, and 40 percent from long range. The Pfeiffer defense also forced 20 turnovers. The Falcons have forced 20 or more turnovers in every game this season. Pfeiffer also had a big advantage in the paint, as they outscored the Bishops 36-18.
Kechae Parker was the high scorer for NC Wesleyan as she racked up 21 points while shooting 47 percent from the floor. The major difference in the contest was a third quarter in which Pfeiffer outscored NC Wesleyan 29-9. The Bishops beat the Falcons in multiple categories, such as rebounding, second chance points, and bench points, but Pfeiffer's big third quarter was too much for the Bishops to overcome.
Up next for the Falcons as a Saturday afternoon showdown in Merner Gym with Averett University in the first of two matchups this season. Game time is at 2:00.
