For the second time in as many weeks, Buena Vista senior center Claudia Larsen has been named the Iowa Conference Women's Basketball Co-Performer of the Week.
Larsen had herself a week to remember as she helped BVU win a pair of big IIAC games to improve to 3-1 in league play and move into a tie for second in the league standings.
Against Nebraska Wesleyan on Wednesday night, she matched her career-high with 24 points on 10-of-17 shooting, while also recording her second straight double-double by grabbing 10 rebounds and chipping in with five blocks. BVU used a strong second half of that game led by Larsen's charge to defeat NWU, 84-72. She followed that up with a triple-double effort at home on Saturday against visiting Central College by scoring 10 points, grabbing 10 rebounds and dishing out a career-high 10 assists. It's just the 11th triple-double in all of Division III this season and the first in her career. The 10 assists are also tied for the most by an IIAC player in any game this season.
Over the last two weeks, she's averaging 19.0ppg, 11.3rpg, 6.5apg, 2.3spg and 2.3bpg as BVU has won a season-high four straight games. The Beavers are 8-5 overall (3-1 IIAC) and will look to extend their winning ways at the University of Dubuque (3-10, 1-3 IIAC) on Wednesday night. Tip-off is at 6:00 p.m.
