CAMBRIDGE, Mass.—First-year Nicole Hiller (Rocky Hill, Conn.) hit the go-ahead three-pointer with 1:14 remaining in overtime to help visiting Babson College defeat MIT, 50-46, in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) women's basketball action on Wednesday night at Rockwell Cage.

Babson, which has now won 15 straight conference road games, improves to 8-4 overall and 4-0 in league play. MIT, which has dropped two straight games, dips to 7-4 overall and 3-1 in the NEWMAC.

Junior Payton Ouimette (Medfield, Mass.) finished with 15 points and 19 rebounds, while classmate Katherine Tamulionis (Foxboro, Mass.) had eight points and six assists for the Beavers. Sophomore Emily Bonifacic (Allendale, N.J.) came off the bench to chip in with eight points and eight boards in the win.

Junior Taylor V'Dovec (Blaine, Wash.) finished with 14 points and 12 rebounds, and classmate Dolly Yuan (San Jose, Calif.) had 14 points, seven boards and three assists for the Engineers.

The Green and White took its first lead of the first half at 15-13 with 1:50 left in the second quarter after back-to-back hoops by Bonifacic and Tamulionis. V'Dovec answered with five straight points, but two free throws by Ouimette and a layup by Bonifacic gave the Beavers a 19-18 edge going to the locker room.

Babson, which never trailed in the second half, went 7-of-16 from the floor and got eight third-quarter points from Ouimette to extend its lead to 35-29 at the end of the third quarter. MIT pulled within 38-36 on a free throw by Yuan with 3:52 left, but baskets by junior Elizabeth Lane (Skaneateles, N.Y.) and Bonifacic extended the Beavers' lead back to 42-38 with 2:03 remaining. The Engineers tied the game with consecutive hoops by V'Dovec and first-year Kylie Gallagher (Upton, Mass.) with 1:13 to go, and then got three stops over the final 46 seconds to force overtime.

Yuan connected on MIT's only field goals in the extra session to give the hosts a 46-44 advantage with 2:22 remaining. After empty possessions for both teams, Hiller buried a three-pointer, her only hoop of the night, from the right corner to put the Green and White back in front 47-46. Tamulionis scored on a driving layup with 11 seconds to go to make it a three-point game, and junior Bianca Tomasinni (North Branford, Conn.) hit 1-of-2 free throws with 0.8 seconds left to seal the win.

Despite shooting 33.3 percent, the Beavers held the Engineers to just 28.8 percent from the floor and finished with a 52-42 edge on the glass. Babson also owned a 21-0 advantage in bench scoring.

Both teams return to action on Saturday as the Beavers host Mount Holyoke at 1 p.m., while MIT travels to Clark at 3 p.m.

• Babson is now 51-11 all-time against MIT and has won eight straight games at Rockwell Cage going back to 2009.
• The Green and White is 3-0 this season and 7-3 going back to the start of last season in games decided by five points or less.
