RINALDI LEADS RAMAPO IN 78-75 WIN OVER LEHMAN

Bronx, NY: The Ramapo College women's basketball team, behind 25 points from Samantha Rinaldi, survived a late surge by Lehman earning a non-conference 78-75 win tonight on the road. With the victory the Roadrunners improve to 4-6 overall. Lehman falls to 5-4.

Rinaldi shot an impressive 11-12 from the field to lead the team on the night as three of her baskets came from behind the three-point arc. The team hit a combined 32-65 (49%) and Jenna Harsh collected 16 points hitting 6-17. Tia Solomon would record a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds while Bridgette Buckalew netted 11 points and dished out three assists. Ramapo would cause 13 turnovers and score 46 points in the paint. The score was tied on five occasions and the lead changed just two times on the night.

Ramapo kicked off the night with a 9-2 lead as Rinaldi put away a layup with 6:43 to play in the first quarter. Two minutes later, Lehman would come within two (11-13) and eventually take the lead at 1:03 with a three-pointer from Lillybeth Garcia. Lehman held a one-point, 18-17 advantage at the buzzer. The second quarter went to Lehman as they outscored the Roadrunners, 20-15 to end the first 20 minutes of play leading the Roadrunners, 38-32. Jina Crawford led the Roadrunners in the first half with nine points and Harsh dropped seven as the team hit 13-29. Lehman was led by Garcia with 13 points as the team drained 15 of their 34 attempts.

Lehman would hit the first basket of the second half but the Roadrunners didn't sit back as Rinaldi nailed a three, a layup and another three to put Ramapo on top by one, 41-40 with 8:02 on the clock. With seven minutes flat to play, two free throws from Harsh would give Ramapo the lead once again (44-43) as they would close out the third quarter out scoring Lehman, 18-10. Buckalew hit a layup with 27 seconds to go to put Ramapo ahead, 62-53 at the end of the third. The Roadrunners would climb to a 13-point advantage with a layup from Rinaldi at 7:09, but Lehman did not fold as they came within just one point, 75-76 with 14 seconds to play. A Lehman foul and two good free throws from Buckalew would close out the game with Ramapo on top, 78-75. Ramapo hit 19-36 in the second half as Rinaldi put away 20 points. Harsh added nine and Solomon and Buckalew each collected eight. Lehman was led by Lynda Fields with ten points as the team went 15-37.

Aliyah Dorsett led Lehman in the loss with 17 points and Lisa Fields collected 14 while Garcia and Selena Lopez put away 13 and 11 points respectively. The team hit 30-71 (42%) from the field and Eugenie Maguire pulled down a team leading seven rebounds. Dorsett dished out five assists and Maguire grabbed three steals.

The Roadrunners return to action on December 30th when they travel to the Westfield State Tournament to face off with host, Westfield State, at 1pm.
