BEREA, Ohio — Alexis Enochs sank one of two free throws with five seconds left in the game as No. 25 Marietta College defeated Baldwin Wallace, 63-62, Saturday (Dec. 2) afternoon in Ohio Athletic Conference women's basketball. The Pioneers move to 6-0 on the season and 2-0 in the OAC. The Yellow Jackets are 3-3 on the season and 0-2 in league play.

"I am really proud of our resilience today. We didn't play our best game of the year and BW had a lot to do with that," Marietta head coach Kole Vivian said. "That is a good win on the road against a top tier program in the OAC."

Enochs scored eight of her 11 points in the fourth quarter to lead the Pioneers to victory. She hit two free throws with 4:05 remaining to get MC within one, 57-56, and then put Marietta in front with a layup seven seconds later after Amisha Herd came up with the steal.

With the score tied at 60-60, Shay Lett grabbed an offensive rebound and layed the follow up in to put Marietta in front with 34 seconds left in the game. BW's Rachel Womeldorf hit a jumper to tie the game at 62-62 with seven seconds remaining.

Following timeouts by both teams, Marietta went to Enochs on the block and BW was whistled for a foul sending her to the line for what would prive to be the game winning free throw.

"We were able to pressure them into some turnovers late and started getting the ball to our posts," Vivian said. "Alexis played a big fourth quarter to push us over the top and they had a tough time slowing down Brooke the entire game. I couldn't be more proud of our team for getting it done on the road."

Borich led all scorers with 20 points. Lett finished with eight points and Herd pulled down a game-high 13 rebounds, including nine offensive boards.

Womeldorf was the lone Yellow Jacket in double figures with 16 points and led BW with seven rebounds. Mary Schentur added nine points.

For the game, Marietta shot 34.3% (23-of-67) from the floor, 33.3% (5-of-15) from three-point range and 63.2% (12-of-19) at the free throw line. The Yellow Jackets were 19-of-52 (36.5%) from the floor, 8-of-24 (33.3%) behind the arc and 16-of-21 (76.2%) at the line.

Baldwin Wallace edged the Pioneers on the glass, 44-42. Marietta turned the ball over 15 times, while BW committed 21 turnovers.

Marietta is off until next Saturday (Dec. 9) when the Pioneers travel to University Heights for a 3 p.m. game at John Carroll University.
