Four Hawks in Double Figures But Hartwick Falls to New Paltz, 75-69

            ONEONTA, NY – Hartwick came up six points short against visiting SUNY New Paltz on Tuesday, 75-69. The loss drops 'Wick to 0-4 on the season. New Paltz improves to 2-1.

            Freshman Mary Schoenherr (Unionville, CT/Farmington) led four Hawks in double figures on the night. She went 7-of-14 from the floor for 15 points. She missed a double-double by just one assist after recording nine. Schoenherr also contributed six rebounds. Freshman Kelly Pine (Hoosick Falls, NY/Hoosick Falls) added 14 points, four boards, and three assists.

            Hartwick would shoot a season-high 46.6% (27-of-58) from the floor on the night. The team also out-rebounded the visitors by a 39-27 margin.

            New Paltz would shoot 45.8% (27-for-59) in the game. Guard Lindsay Bettke paced the team with 28 points on 12-of-22 shooting, including four three-pointers. Marion Dietz added 15 points with Paige Niemeyer chipping in 13.

            'Wick, which trailed by as many as 11 points early in the third quarter, trimmed the gap to five points, 55-50, with 1:51 left in the quarter. A 7-2 New Paltz run put the lead back up to 10 before a Caitlin Corbett (Altamont, NY/Guilderland) bucket made it 62-54 entering the final quarter.

            The visitors built another 11-point margin early in the fourth period. Hartwick answered back cutting the deficit to six, 67-61, with 6:35 left to play but they got no closer until the final minute.

            Corbett finished with 13 points and a game-high seven rebounds. Carly Johnson (Greenville, NY/Greenville Central) added 13 points and six boards.

            'Wick will be back in action at home on November 28 against city rival SUNY Oneonta beginning at 6 p.m.
