KEUKA PARK, N.Y.— The Keuka College Women's Basketball team opened the 2017-18 season with a 68-47 victory over D'Youville College at the JMW Recreation and Athletics Center on Saturday night.

Keuka College (1-0) was led by Lauren Anten (Rochester, N.Y. / Hilton) with 19 points. Also in double-figures was junior Reighly Melochick (Millersville, Pa. / Millersville), scoring 12 points. Sophomore guard Sam Laranjo (Averill Park, N.Y. / Averill Park) had a solid all-around game for the Wolves with eight points and a team-high eight rebounds and six assists.

Keuka College 68 vs. D'Youville College 47

Keuka College got out to a quick lead against the Spartans on Wednesday. Leading 6-4, the Wolves went on a 13-0 run to create separation with D'Youville. Keuka College carried that momentum to a 21-8 lead after the first quarter.

Keuka College increased their scoring production in the second quarter. The Wolves shot 53% from the floor in totaling 22 points in the frame. Lauren Anten had eight points in the second quarter as the Wolves led 43-21 at the break.

In the third quarter, Keuka College struggled from the floor, going 4-15 for 27%. At the other end of the floor, D'Youville only shot 25% on field goals, but the Spartans went to the free throw line 16 times, making nine. They won the third quarter 13-11, but Keuka still led by 20, 54-34, going into the final quarter.

The Green and Gold would close in out in the final 10 minutes. They outscored the Spartans 14-13 in the last quarter on their way to the 68-47 victory.

Up Next for Keuka College: Keuka College will play at Nazareth College on Saturday in the Heritage Christian Services Classic against the Golden Flyers. The Wolves will then return home on Sunday for an afternoon affair with Medaille College.
