Senior All-America center Kaitlin Langer had 18 points, four blocks and a career-high 19 rebounds and the No. 2-ranked Tommies (31-0) set a school record for victories with Saturday night's 65-48 win over No. 16-ranked Whitman (Wash.) in the quarterfinal round of the Division III women's basketball national tournament at UST's Schoenecker Arena. 

The Tommies, who have won 47 of their last 48 games since January 2016, are in the national semifinals for the sixth time in program history but first time since 2012.

Coach Ruth Sinn's team is among just four unbeaten women's or men's teams at all levels of NCAA hoops. The 31-0 start is a first for Tommie men or women, and the 31 season victories equals the 2012 team (31-2).

St. Thomas closed off a 17-0 run on their home court this winter. It will play No. 3-ranked and twice-beaten Tufts (Mass.) in the Friday March 17 semifinals in Grand Rapids, Mich.

St. Thomas outscored the Blues (26-5) 21-0 from 3-point range, as the Toms knocked down 7-of-21 and Whitman went 0-for-15 from behind the arc.

Lucia Renikoff sank a big trey to close the first half with a 10-point UST lead, and Maddie Wolkow hit a trey to close the third quarter to keep St. Thomas ahead 48-36. 

Whitman's Emily Rommel, who had 16 points and 10 boards in Friday's win over Trinity (Texas), was in foul trouble and played just 18 minutes before fouling out. Rommel had just two points and seven boards.

Renikoff made 3-of-4 treys and finished with 14 points, and Wolkow scored nine. The Toms made 20-of-26 free throws to help keep a cushion.

Chelsi Brewer and Alysse Ketner each scored 10 points for the Blues. Whitman helped force 21 Tommie turnovers but made just 8-for-33 field-goal tries in the second half and finished the game shooting 27.4 percent to UST's 39 percent.
