Record shooting night helps No. 2-ranked Toms roll

Junior Lauren Fischer broke a school record with seven 3-point baskets in a game-high 23-point performances as the No. 2-ranked Tommies (28-0) topped the Yellowjackets (23-5), 98-56, in Friday's NCAA Division III women's basketball playoff game at Schoenecker Arena.

Fischer made 7-of-9 from behind the arc and helped St. Thomas shoot 60 percent from the floor. Six St. Thomas players had made six treys in one game, the last Kellie Ring in February 2013.

The Toms play the University of Chicago (19-9) Saturday at 7 p.m.. The Maroons topped No. 8-ranked Wartburg, 67-63.

St. Thomas outscored Superior 27-3 in the second quarter to take a 50-13 halftime lead.
