Temple Leads No. 4 Saints To a 77-40 Win Over Saint Vincent

(CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.) – Sophomore guard Madison Temple (Cincinnati, Ohio/Anderson) scored a game-high 24 points in 16 minutes of action tonight (Wednesday, February 15, 2017) to lead the No. 4-ranked Thomas More College women's basketball team to a 77-40 win over Saint Vincent College at the Connor Convocation Center in Crestview Hills, Kentucky.

With the win, the Saints improve to 24-0 overall and 17-0 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC).  With the loss, the Bearcats fall to 15-9 overall and 12-5 in the PAC.

Saint Vincent jumped out to an early 8-6 lead and then the Saints closed out the first half on an 11-2 run to take a 15-10 lead after one quarter.  Thomas More increased the lead to 40-20 at halftime and 62-30 after three quarters before cruising to the 77-40 victory.

Thomas More out-scored Saint Vincent 38-20 in the paint, 16-12 off turnovers, 19-18 on second chance points and 10-4 on fast break points.

Kiernan was joined in double-figure scoring by junior forward Nikki Kiernan (Cold Springs, Ky./Newport Central Catholic) with 13 points and junior guard Abby Owings (Independence, Ky./Simon Kenton) with 11 points.  Kiernan led the team on the boards with a game-high 11 rebounds for her 10th double-double of the season and also had a game-high four blocked shots.  Sophomore guard Michaela Ware (Newport, Ky./Newport Central Catholic) led the team in assists with six, while Owings added four. 

Thomas More will close out the regular season on Saturday (February 18) when it travels to Washington, Pennsylvania to play Washington & Jefferson College at 1 p.m. inside the Henry Memorial Center.
