Morrisville St. Tops Keuka College in Women’s Basketball

KEUKA PARK, N.Y. – The Keuka College Women's Basketball team lost at home on Saturday to Morrisville State College by the score of 76-49 in a North Eastern Athletic Conference game.

Keuka College (9-9, 6-7 NEAC) will wrap up the weekend at home on Sunday as they host Cazenovia College at 1pm at the JMW Recreation and Athletics Center.

The Wolves were led by Lauren Anten (Rochester, N.Y. / Hilton) with 17 points in the contest. She also led Keuka in rebounding with eight. Courtney Boyea (Chateaugay, N.Y. / Chateaugay) knocked down three three-pointers and finished the game with 12 points. Fellow senior Katie Stuart (Tupper Lake, N.Y. / Tupper Lake) also finished in double figures with 10 points.

Morrisville State opened the game ahead of Keuka College, but Lauren Anten helped bring the Wolves back. She made a layup, a pull-up jumper, and a three pointer for the Wolves on a personal 7-0 run to give Keuka a 12-9 lead with two minutes left in the first. Morrisville got one bucket back, but the Wolves led 12-11 after the first quarter.

The Mustangs found their shooting stroke in the second quarter. They shot 71.4% in the quarter and knocked down three threes to grow the lead. At the half, Morrisville led 34-25.

The hot shooting for Morrisville continued in the third quarter. They went 12-17 from the floor, 70.6%, in the frame. Added to that, Morrisville went 4-5 from three point territory as the Mustangs grew their lead to 62-38 going into the final quarter.

Keuka College was unable to overcome the deficit in the fourth quarter. Keuka outshot the Mustangs 40% to 25% from the floor, but Morrisville outscored Keuka 14-11 in the quarter on their way to the 76-49 victory.
