SEWANEE, Tenn. (Feb. 3, 2017) – For the second straight game, the Sewanee women's basketball team played well on both ends of the floor. With that effort, the Tigers rolled past visiting Southern Athletic Association (SAA) foe Berry 66-51, Friday, inside Juhan Gymnasium.

The Tigers have won back-to-back games for only the second time this season. Sewanee is now 7-13 overall and 4-6 in conference action.

In the first half, Sewanee played well. The Tigers led by as much as 10 in the opening 20 minutes.

In the second half, Sewanee continued to play well. A 10-4 run to open the third quarter pushed the Tiger advantage to 52-36. After a quick 5-0 spurt by Berry, sophomore Bella Taylor stopped the Viking run with a three with 2:29 left in the third.

From there, Sewanee never looked back. The Tigers opened the fourth on a 9-6 run. Sewanee eventually led by as much as 17 after a Hannah McCormack layup with 2:44 left.

Overall, Sewanee made 34.4 percent of its attempts. The Tigers also hit 41.7 percent of their three-point shots. Additionally, Sewanee forced 18 Berry turnovers which led to 22 points.

Individually, McCormack and Taylor each finished with 18 points. Taylor also finished with 10 rebounds while fellow guard Sue Kim pitched in four points and seven assists.

The other two Tiger starters, Corey Caulder and Savannah Rose, combined for 15 points and 15 rebounds.

Alex Weems led Berry with a 21-point, 11-rebound double-double.

Sewanee will look to stretch its recent winning streak to three games when the Tigers host Oglethorpe, Sunday. Tipoff is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
