BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – Junior guard Raegan Mulherin (Baldwinville, Mass.) scored 19 points including the 1,000th of her career to lead the Framingham State University women's basketball team to a convincing 60-42 win over Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) rival Bridgewater State University on Wednesday night at the Tinsley Center.
The Rams improve to 17-3 on the season and 7-1 in the MASCAC, while the Bears fall to 9-11 overall and 4-3 in conference play.
Mulherin, who also added seven rebounds, two assists and two steals, connected on 7 of 13 field goal attempts including 5-for-8 from behind the arc. The milestone bucket came on a three-pointer with 3:28 remaining in the third quarter.
Senior center Alycia Rackliffe (Feeding Hills, Mass.) posted a double-double with 14 points and a game-high 13 rebounds. Rackliffe also checked in with five blocked shots and a pair of steals.
Junior forward Rhiana Page (Brookline, Mass.) paced the host Bears with 12 points, six rebounds and two assists, while senior guard Stephanie DeSantis (Walpole, Mass.) also scored 12 points to go along with four boards and a pair of assists.
Senior forward Jennie Lindland (Edgartown, Mass.) chipped in with eight points, seven rebounds, two blocks and three steals.
Framingham led 29-18 at the break as the Rams held the Bears to just four points in the second quarter.
Mulherin's milestone three-pointer gave the visitors a 38-24 lead in the third. She added two more trifectas in the period as the Rams extended their advantage to 46-29 at the end of three.
Framingham got up by as many as 25 points (56-31) in the fourth quarter before settling for the 60-42 win.
The Rams, who overcame 26 turnovers, shot 46% (21-46) from the floor and converted 12 of 14 (86%) at the free throw line. Framingham also connected on 6 of 17 (35%) three-pointers.
The Bears struggled with their shooting throughout the game as they converted just 29.5% (18-61) of their field goal attempts including 2-for-15 (13%) from behind the arc. Bridgewater also went just 4-for-9 (44%) at the charity stripe.
The MASCAC schedule continues for both teams on Saturday afternoon at three. The Bears travel to Fitchburg State University while the Rams entertain Westfield State University.
