Wayne, NJ – Junior forward Taylor Harmon scored 14 points and added two rebounds, four assists, two blocks and three steals off the bench as Montclair State got back into the win column with a 73-52 win over local rival William Paterson on Wednesday evening.

Junior Katie Sire collected a double-double of 13 points and 11 rebounds as Montclair (19-2, 12-2 NJAC) bounced back from its overtime loss at Stockton on Monday evening. The Red Hawks put four players in double figures in sweeping the season set from the Pioneers (13-8, 8-6 NJAC).

MSU got off to a strong start and took advantage of WPU shooting woes in the first period as it led 16-8. Zoe Curtis drained a three-pointer putting Montclair on the board and it went on an 11-point burst for a 14-1 lead with just over four minutes remaining. Sire had six in the run with Harmon collecting the final four points.

A three-point play by the Pioneers to open the second pulled WPU within 16-11 however Kate Tobie connected from behind the arc for a 19-11 lead with 8:10 left. William Paterson got within 21-17 with five minutes to play but Harmon hit from the line igniting another 11-point run to close the half as MSU headed into the locker room up 32-17.

The teams played to an even 18-18 third quarter keeping the Red Hawks in front by 15 points. MSU maintained that lead in the fourth as the advantage stayed in double-digits the rest of the way.

Curtis finished with 13 points, eight rebounds and three assists with Tobie chipping in at 11 points, three rebounds, six assists and three steals. Alex McKinnon had seven points and four rebounds while Yazmine Lacey scored six points and pulled down five rebounds.

The Red Hawks will look to avenge their loss to Stockton on Saturday, February 4 when they host the Ospreys at the Panzer Athletic Center beginning at 1:00 pm.
