WAYNE, N.J. – The William Paterson women's basketball team (13-8, 8-6 NJAC) suffered a 73-52 home loss against No. 15/16 Montclair State (19-2, 12-2 NJAC) Feb. 1.

Senior guard Nikole Williams (Valley Stream, N.Y./Valley Stream Central) scored a team-high 13 points, while freshman guard Gabby Harris (South River, N.J./South River) notched nine. Junior forward Tori Woetzel (Wyckoff, N.J./Ramapo) contributed six tallies and a team-best nine rebounds.

The Pioneers couldn't find the measure early, spotting the Red Hawks a 14-1 lead before connecting on their first field goal at the 2:36 mark of the first quarter. Despite the slow start, WP cut the margin to four (21-17) midway through the second period, but MSU scored the final 11 points of the half to carry a 32-17 advantage into the locker room.

William Paterson closed to within 10 at 52-42 with 7:49 on the clock during the fourth quarter before a 15-6 Montclair State burst put the game out of reach (67-48, 2:44).

Junior guard/forward Katie Sire collected a double-double for the Red Hawks with 13 points and 11 rebounds. Senior guard Zoe Curtis chipped in 13 tallies and eight boards.

William Paterson will compete at Rutgers-Newark Saturday, Feb. 4, at 6:00 p.m.
