BEVERLY, Mass. -- The University of New England closed the 2nd quarter with a 10-1 run to gain the lead for good in a 50-43 Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) women's basketball victory over Endicott College on Tuesday night (Jan. 31) at MacDonald Gymnasium.

Winners of nine in-a-row, the Nor'easters (15-5) complete the season sweep of the Gulls and maintain sole possession of second on the conference ledger at 11-2. During its unbeaten streak, UNE has defeated every league opponent but Roger Williams University since the Hawks took a 58-51 decision from Big Blue on January 5 in Rhode Island. First-place RWU (13-0 CCC) is slated to visit Biddeford on Saturday for a 2 p.m. tip-off.

UNE's halftime advantage of 22-17 was trimmed to one on three occasions (22-21, 27-76, 34-33) as played continued, until the Nor'easters eventually separated with a 10-2 spurt in the 4th -- establishing a 44-35 cushion with 2:44 left.

Endicott, which was out-scored by three (20-17) in the final period, could not get closer than six in the waning moments. The visitors made 10-of-14 freebies down the stretch to seal the win.

Alicia Brown registered a game-high 13 points, seven rebounds, and four steals for the Nor'easters. Sam MacDonald added 10 points and six boards, and Olivia Allrich tossed in seven points off the bench. Olivia Shaw also corralled seven rebounds for UNE, which finished on top of a 47-34 margin in the category.

For the Gulls (9-11, 8-5 CCC), Gabriella Coppola had 11 points, five caroms, and five assists. Hannah Kiernan went for 10 points and six rebounds, while Emily Pratt contributed nine points. Sarah Hood had seven points and a match-best 10 rebounds.

Neither side was successful shooting the ball all evening, as both ended at 29 percent for the game. Big Blue also left 14 points at the charity stripe (18-for-32).

Early on, Endicott tallied the night's first six points and led 11-3 with 2:50 to go in the 1st frame, but only held a 13-10 edge through 10 minutes.
