JERSEY CITY, N.J. – Junior guard Ashley Palmieri (Edison, N.J./Metuchen) scored a career-best 15 points to lead a balanced Pioneer attack as the William Paterson women's basketball team (12-7, 7-5 NJAC) rolled to a 59-38 victory at New Jersey City (0-12 NJAC) Jan. 25.
All 10 available Pioneers got into the scoring column, and none played more than 26 minutes. Palmieri was 6-for-9 (.667) overall and 3-for-4 (.750) from three-point range for her 15 tallies. Freshman guard Gabby Harris (South River, N.J./South River) collected 10 points and six rebounds, while senior forward Janea Clark (South Plainfield, N.J./South Plainfield) pulled down a team-best nine boards. Freshman guard Kristina Ulrich (Secaucus, N.J./Secaucus) added nine tallies.
WP transformed a 31-19 halftime lead into a 53-30 advantage by the end of the third quarter behind 15-for-32 (.469) shooting during the game's middle 20 minutes. The Pioneers turned 28 Gothic Knight turnovers into 24 points, and owned a 32-10 edge in bench points during the contest.
Senior guard Marcielle Richards paced NJCU with 10 points. Junior center Shege Haxhaj contributed nine tallies and 19 rebounds.
William Paterson will travel to Stockton Saturday, Jan. 28, at 3:00 p.m.
