Dorgler started off the scoring for both sides with two from the free throw line followed by knocking down a 3-pointer to extend the Bears' early lead. Plattsburgh answered with the next 15 points that spanned over seven minutes of the quarter. Senior guard Abbey LaPage (North Bangor, N.Y./Franklin Academy) drained a three at 1:38 to slow the Cardinals then freshman guard Drew Dufrane (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool) and sophomore forward Victoria Shopovick (White Plains, N.Y./Maria Regina) added two points each to bring the score to 17-12 in favor of Plattsburgh. Olivia Souky finished with 10 of the Cardinals' 17 points during the quarter.
Plattsburgh's offense ignited again at the start of the second for 11 straight points. At 7:04, Dufrane hit from behind the arch and other Bears followed for their own 11-5 run to close out the first half. The Cardinals' led 33-23 going into halftime. Driscoll topped the Bears with four points during the 10 minutes and Jax Miller also added four on the other side of the ball.
Third quarter play evened out with 15 points for each team. Potsdam didn't make up any ground so the Cardinals' still held the 10 point lead. Dorgler put up nine points for the Bears, while Bella Depasquale chipped in four for Plattsburgh.
The see-saw play continued throughout the final 10-minutes of the contest. Plattsburgh held the 17-14 edge during the quarter and came out on top with the 65-52 win.
Sophomore guard Abbey Smith (Bainbridge, N.Y./Bainbridge-Guilford) finished with seven points and Dufrane pitched in six points. Junior forward Emily Drake (Athens, N.Y./Coxsackie-Athens) tied with Dorgler to have a team-high six rebounds. Dorgler also had four takeaways and Driscoll had five boards and five assists.
Souky had 19 points, 10 rebounds and four steals. Moe Jones recorded 10 points, 11 boards and four assists, while Miller tallied 10 points and eight rebounds
Potsdam will return to the hardwood this weekend when the Bears host SUNY New Paltz on Friday at 7:30 p.m.
