BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Birmingham-Southern women's basketball team extended its win streak to seven with a 52-40 win over Southern Athletic Association rival Centre College Friday night in Bill Battle Coliseum. The Panthers are now 11-6 overall, 6-0 against SAA opponents.
Elizabeth Niedermair (Mandeville, La./Mandeville HS) led with a team-high nine points. Emilee Olsen (Marietta, Ga./Lassiter HS) grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds.
The women were ahead 24-14 at the break despite a slow start. They led by as many as 13 points in the first half and would push ahead by 18 in the fourth before Centre chipped away at the lead. BSC outscored the Colonels 18-16 in the second half to secure the win.
The Panthers remain home for their next conference battle. They take on Sewanee in a doubleheader with the men on Sunday, Jan. 22 at 1 p.m. The men will follow at 3 p.m.
