Endicott defeats Nichols, 60-51

BEVERLY, Mass. – Junior Allison Cerrato (Rockland, Mass.) collected 16 points and nine rebounds for the Nichols College women's basketball team, which was defeated by Endicott College 60-51 Saturday afternoon in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action at the MacDonald Gymnasium.
 
Senior Taylor Daniels (Dudley, Mass.) filled the stat sheet with 15 points, seven rebounds, and two steals while sophomore Anna McDaniel (Taunton, Mass.) scored eight points on 4-of-6 shooting. The Bison were outrebounded 48-38 and shot 30 percent from the field – including 3-of-19 from downtown.
 
Senior Sarah Hood (Burlington, Mass.) recorded a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds for the Gulls, who knocked down 36 percent of their shots and overcame 21 turnovers to earn the victory. Freshman Emily Pratt (Gardner, Mass.) led the Gulls with 17 points – including four 3-pointers.
 
The Bison held a 20-8 lead after one quarter and took a 32-27 lead to the locker room at halftime. Daniels led all scorers with 13 points while Cerrato netted 10 points; each snared five rebounds. Junior Hanna Kiernan (Wenham, Mass.) was the top point getter for Endicott with nine points (4-of-5 FG).
 
Endicott outscored the Bison 19-11 in the third quarter to move in front 46-43, and held Nichols to eight points in the fourth quarter. Pratt poured in all 17 of her points in the final 20 minutes while Hood went for eight points.

Today's contest marked the 23rd all-time meeting between Endicott College and Nichols College. The Gulls lead the series, 18-5, and have won 10 of the last 11 contests.
