MADISON, NJ—Junior Briana Bull scored 21 points in a 65-50 loss to Drew University on the road on Saturday, marking her seventh straight game with at least 20 points and ninth overall during the 2016-17 campaign.

 

In addition to leading the team in scoring, Bull also paced the Gophers (4-8, Landmark 0-2) in rebounds (12) and steals (4).

 

Senior Jaida Scarborough extended a streak of her own, scoring double-digits (10 points) for the fifth consecutive game. The guard also dished out three dimes to Goucher scorers.

 

Freshmen Shalom Omo-Osagie and Katie Pacak pitched in with six points each for the Gophers.

 

The Rangers acted as a three-headed attack with the senior trio of Ryan Jackson, Hannah Miller and Sam Lane scoring 16, 15 and 13 points, respectively. Junior Ally Raulf corralled 11 rebounds to lead Drew University on the boards.

 

How It Happened:

  • Both teams came out of the gates slow, scoring only a combined 17 points in the opening quarter.
  • Goucher trailed, 9-8, following the first stanza despite holding the Rangers to only 25.0% (4-of-16) shooting.
  • Both teams shot well in the second period, with Drew maintaining an advantage in scoring, 19-15.
  • Heading into the locker rooms at the half, Goucher trailed Drew 28-23.
  • Both the Gophers and Rangers shot lights out in the opening quarter of the second half, hitting a combined 64.0% (16-of-25) of their shots. Again, the Rangers held an advantage in buckets, increasing their lead, 51-38, heading into the final quarter.
  • The Gophers struggled in the fourth, only mustering 12 points on 4-of-19 (21.1%) shooting while Drew made 55.6% (5-of-9) of its shots.
  • The Rangers finished the game on top, 65-50.
  • Goucher shot 36.8% (21-of-57) from the field over the course of the game and outpaced the Rangers in second chance points (8-7), fast break points (8-4) and bench points (8-6).

 

Up Next:

The Gophers remain on the road for their next Landmark Conference matchup when they travel to Huntingdon, PA to take on Juniata in their final of a three-game road trip. In 18 games the Gophers have only beaten the Eagles once. However, that victory came in their last matchup in Huntingdon when Goucher took down Juniata 70-59.
