DOYLESTOWN (PA) – DeSales University scored the first 13 points of the game and never looked back as the visiting Bulldogs registered a 73-45, Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom win over Delaware Valley University.
DeSales (10-2, 2-0 MAC Freedom) came out flying from the opening tip as the 13-0 start was followed by 9-3 run for a 19-point advantage after the opening stanza.
The two teams played a more balanced second quarter as each scored 15 points and DeSales took a 37-18 lead into the half. DelVal (5-8, 1-1 MAC Freedom) made just five of 27 shots (18.5%) from the field, compared to 15 of 38 (39.5 %) shooting from the Bulldogs.
DeSales upped its lead to as many as 31 points in the second half, en route to the 73-45 victory.
A bright spot for DelVal in this one was sophomore Danielle Skedzielewski. She finished with a career-high 28 points, including an 11-for-14 effort from the free throw line. She also added five rebounds and one block.
Ten different players scored for the Bulldogs, led by 12 points from Leandra Sterner. Nicole Umbenhauer and Morgan McCollian also placed in double figures with 11 and 10 points respectively.
The Aggies will continue MAC Freedom play when they travel to Wilkes University to take on the Lady Colonels on Wednesday, January 11 (6 p.m.).
