BABSON PARK, Mass.—Senior Taylor Russell (Braintree, Mass.) scored 15 of her career-high 23 points in the first quarter and sophomore Bianca Tomassini (North Branford, Conn.) added a career-best 21 points off the bench as Babson College defeated visiting Mount Holyoke College, 99-30, in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) women's basketball action on Saturday afternoon at Staake Gymnasium.

With its 10th win in 11 games, Babson is now 11-2 overall and 5-0 in league play, while Mount Holyoke slips to 2-9 overall and 0-5 in the NEWMAC with its eighth straight loss.

Russell added eight rebounds and Tomassini finished 9-of-12 from the floor for the Beavers, who shot 45.2 percent for the game. Junior Julianna Rosenberg (Verona, N.J.) scored a career-high 10 points and sophomore Raven Brathwaite (Dorchester, Mass.), one of three players to score seven points, ripped down a game-high nine rebounds in the victory. Classmate Katherine Tamulionis (Foxboro, Mass.) led all players with five assists.

Sophomore Leah Hodges (New Haven, Conn.) finished with nine points and six rebounds, while senior Xajaah Williams-Flores (Bronx, N.Y.) contributed six points, eight boards and a game-high four steals for the Lyons, who shot just 19.7 percent on the day.

The Green and White made seven of its first 10 shots and used a 37-point first quarter to seize control of the game. Russell went 5-of-6 from the floor and the Beavers hit five three-pointers, including two by Tomassini, to build a 37-6 lead after 10 minutes.

Tomassini opened the second quarter with a jump shot, first-year Emily Bonifacic (Allendale, N.J.) knocked down a pair of free throws, and Tomassini and sophomore Tea Spellacy (Belchertown, Mass.) drained consecutive three-pointers to push the Babson advantage to 47-11 less than four minutes into the stanza. First-year Vanessa Onwe (Tarrytown, N.Y.) hit two free throws and classmate Jacqueline Jozefick (Milford, Conn.) buried another triple to give the hosts a 54-13 lead at the break.

Russell and Rosenberg each scored eight points in the third quarter and Tomassini added 10 in the fourth as the Beavers led by as many as 69 with under four minutes remaining.

Babson finished with a 64-33 edge on the glass and scored 34 points off of 27 Mount Holyoke turnovers. The Green and White also outscored the Lyons 40-14 in the paint.

Both teams are back in action on Tuesday at 7 p.m. as Babson visits Coast Guard, while Mount Holyoke travels to Wellesley.

•    The Beavers are 36-7 all-time against Mount Holyoke and have won 16 straight in the series going back to 2008.
•    Babson's 99 points are a season high and are the most its scored since finishing with 116 against the Lyons last season.
