Tigers Improve to 3-1 With Road Win

LOS ANGELES — Erin Matsumoto scored 21 points, Triana Anderson added 16 and the Occidental women's basketball team picked up a solid road conference win with a 75-64 victory at La Verne on Saturday.

Matsumoto helped the Tigers overcome a 29-25 halftime deficit, scoring 10 of her points at the free throw line.

Tala Ismail and Dru Ishibashi each scored eight points, and Shariah Green and Midori McElweeadded seven for Oxy.

The Tigers took control of the game with a 32-point outburst in the fourth quarter.

Brianna Bishop led La Verne with 17 points and Karli Kato added 15.

Season Impact: The Tigers move to 7-6 overall and 3-1 in SCIAC play. Oxy has already beaten defending SCIAC champion Claremont-Mudd-Scripps so far this season.

La Verne falls to 0-12 overall and 0-3 in SCIAC.

Next Game: The Tigers are back in action at Whittier on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
