Blaustein Scores Career-High as Yeshiva Falls to USMMA

NEW YORK, N.Y. – The Yeshiva University women's basketball team dropped a Skyline Conference contest to the United States Merchant Marine Academy, 71-37, at the ARC Arena on Thursday evening. Yeshiva now falls to 2-8 overall.

The Mariners (7-2, 4-1 Skyline) never trailed during the game, as a strong start put the visiting team up 11-4, just over five minutes in. After getting outscored by a wide-margin in the opening half, the Maccabees (2-8, 0-7 Skyline) were able to close the gap in the second, only getting outscored 29-24.

For the evening, senior forward Tess Blaustein led all players with 17 points, which sets a new career-high. The Florida resident also brought down eight rebounds, while blocking four shots and forcing two steals. Senior forward Simee Rosner and junior forward Michal Alge each scored seven points and brought down eight boards.

Senior forward Gavriela Colton had just as many caroms and added two points. Freshman guard Laura Betesh and senior guard Tzipora Leiser each scored two points, with the former dishing out three assists and the latter recording two. Junior guard Andrea Weiss had one assist, while sophomore guard Penny Rabin grabbed one rebound.

Yeshiva will return to the ARC Arena on Monday, for a non-conference game against the University of Maine, Presque Isle, beginning at 7:00 p.m.
