Wolves Fall to Mustangs on the Road

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The Keuka College Women's Basketball team lost at Morrisville State College 62-50 on Wednesday evening in their first North Eastern Athletic Conference game of the season.

Keuka College (1-2, 0-1 NEAC) will remain on the road this weekend with a pair of conference games at SUNY Cobleskill and SUNY Poly.

Katie Stuart (Tupper Lake, N.Y. / Tupper Lake) led Keuka College with 13 points and eight rebounds. Lauren Anten (Rochester, N.Y. / Hilton) was also in double-digits with 11 points. Freshman Tiffany Binion (Rochester, N.Y. / Churchville-Chili) made an impact in the paint for the Wolves with six blocks.

Both teams got off to a slow start on Wednesday evening. Lauren Anten made the first basket of the night with a pull-up jumper on the break three minutes in. The Wolves would force eight Morrisville turnovers in the quarter as Keuka led 12-5 after the first quarter.

The Wolves pushed their lead to 11 points in the second quarter following a three pointer by Courtney Boyea (Chateaugay, N.Y. / Chateaugay). The Mustangs continued to fight. A three point shot by Morrisville with four seconds left in the half drew the game to a five-point margin, 32-27, going into the halftime break.

Morrisville State scored the first six point of the quarter to take a 33-32 lead over Keuka College. The Mustangs outscored the Wolves 18-6 in the quarter and led 45-38 after thirty minutes of play.

The Mustangs opened the fourth on a 9-0 run to push their lead to double-digits. The Wolves got on the board four minutes in on a jumper by Sarah Tyler (Newark, N.Y. / Newark). The Green and Gold were unable to bring the margin down to single digits as Keuka College lost to Morrisville State 62-50.
