William Paterson Women’s Basketball Falls to Saint Vincent, 83-58

CENTER VALLEY, PA. – The William Paterson women's basketball team (1-1) dropped an 83-58 decision to Saint Vincent (1-1) in the first round of the DeSales Morgan Stanley Tip-Off Tournament Nov. 19.

 

The Pioneers' 5-for-30 (.167) shooting during the first half allowed the Bearcats to build a 42-18 lead at the break, and a 20-13 overall turnover edge gave Saint Vincent a 22-9 advantage in points scored off the miscues.

 

Sophomore guard Julie Rovito (Ridgefield Park, N.J./Ridgefield Park) led WP with 18 points, adding seven rebounds and three assists. Freshman guard/forward Alliera McCoy (Piscataway, N.J./Piscataway) pulled down a game-high 10 rebounds, chipping in six tallies and three assists, while junior forward Tori Woetzel (Wyckoff, N.J./Ramapo) collected eight points and nine boards.

 

Senior guard Jasmine Weems led the Bearcats with 17 points and four steals, while senior guard Mara Benvenuti had 11 tallies, eight rebounds and seven assists.

 

William Paterson will take on Haverford in the DeSales Morgan Stanley Tip-Off Tournament consolation game Sunday, Nov. 20, at 2:00 p.m.
