Hawks Roll to First Victory, 82-55 Over Cazenovia

            CAZENOVIA, NY – All eleven players that saw action figured into the scoring column on Thursday as the Hartwick College women's basketball team defeated Cazenovia 82-55 on the road. The win is the Hawks' first of the season. They improve to 1-1 on the year.
            Hartwick stormed out to a 7-0 lead and never looked back as it grabbed a 22-9 advantage at the end of the first quarter. The Hawks would out-score the Wildcats 21-15 in the second and 20-12 in the third for a 61-36 lead heading into the fourth. 'Wick's lead would grow to as many as 32 points in the final period following a pair of Courtney Cirillo (Johnstown, NY/Johnstown) free throws before the Hawks would settle on the 82-55 win.
            Hartwick finished the game shooting 42.9% (33-for-77) from the floor, which included 12 three-pointers. The Hawks' defense held the Wildcats to 30% shooting and forced them into 26 turnovers which 'Wick converted into 26 points.
            Carly Johnson (Greenville, NY/Greenville Central) led a trio of Hawks in double figures with a career-high 19 points. She knocked down a career-best five three point shots on nine attempts in the game. She added two rebounds, two steals, two assists, and a blocked shot.
            Caitlin Corbett (Altamont, NY/Guilderland) scored 14 points on 6-of-9 shooting from the field to go along with three boards, two assists, and a steal. Sarah Shaw (Franklin, MA/Franklin) added a career-high 13 points and equaled a career mark with a trio of three-pointers. She also grabbed five rebounds and made three steals.
            Senior Jacqui Foreman (Tolland, CT/Tolland) contributed eight points and six rebounds for the Hawks. Classmate Emily Stone (Granby, CT/Granby Memorial) scored seven points while also registering five assists and three steals. Cirillo closed the contest with five points and a career- and game-high of 12 rebounds.
            Freshman Erin Langworthy (Warrensburg, NY/Warrensburg), Kelsey Collins (Forestburgh, NY/Eldred Central), and LeeAnne Green (Windsor, CT/Watkinson School) also chipped in on the night. Langworthy scored five points and grabbed four rebounds and dished out three assists. Collins had four points, making both of her shots, and recorded seven boards. Green added three points and five rebounds.
            Hartwick next plays on Saturday in the Holiday Inn Classic at Lambos Arena. The Hawks will host Rutgers-Newark at 6 p.m.
