(CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.) – The No. 1-ranked and No. 1 seeded Thomas More College women's basketball team defeated No. 5 seeded Saint Vincent College, 105-57, tonight (Friday, February 26, 2016) in a semifinal round game of the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Championship Tournament at the Connor Convocation Center in Crestview Hills, Kentucky.
With the win, the Saints improve to 26-0 and advanced to championship game tomorrow at 4 p.m. against No. 2 seeded Washington & Jefferson College at the Connor Convocation Center. Thomas More will be seeking its 10th-straight PAC Championship Tournament title. With the loss, the Bearcats fall to 15-13.
The Saints led 29-19 after one quarter, 57-28 at halftime and 81-43 after three quarters. Thomas More shot 58.2 percent from the field as it connected on 39-of-67 shots from the floor. The Saints had a 38-14 advantage in points in the paint, 21-3 off turnovers and 12-0 in fast break points.
Senior guard/forward Sydney Moss (St. Albans, W.Va./Boone County (Ky.)) led all scorers with 34 points. She was joined in double-figure scoring sophomore guard Abby Owings (Independence, Ky./Simon Kenton) with 16 points, sophomore forward Nikki Kiernan (Cold Springs, Ky./Newport Central Catholic) with 12 points and senior forward Samantha Cady (St. Anthony, Minn./St. Anthony Village) finished with 10 points. Moss led the team on the boards with nine rebounds, while senior guard Olivia Huber (Woodlawn, Ky./Newport Central Catholic) led the team in assists with four. Kiernan led the team in blocks four.
