BOSTON, Mass.—UMass Boston women's basketball shot a season-high 48.2 percent and raced out to a 40-19 halftime lead, to cruise to a 73-47 win over Rhode Island College Saturday afternoon at the Beacons Ice Arena.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Beacons scored the first 13 points of the contest and used a total team effort to blow past Rhode Island College in their first home game in three weeks.
UMass Boston put on a show as part of their "Think Pink" game, as the Beacons raised money for Breast Cancer Awareness.
Sophomore Grace Geary (Falmouth, Mass.) posted the best game of her collegiate career, as she just missed out on a triple-double. Geary finished with 18 points, a career-high 11 assists and seven rebounds, for her first collegiate double-double. She drained four three-pointers in the win and added five steals and a block in 33 minutes.
Fellow sophomore Katie Mathieu (Coventry, Conn.) added 14 points and three assists, while senior forward Olivia Murphy (Canton, Mass.) added 13 points, three rebounds and two assists. The pair combined to go 10-13 from the field.
Sophomore Raven Kelsey (Boston, Mass.) and Katrina Edwards (Springfield, Mass.) tied Geary for the team lead with seven rebounds apiece. As a team, 10 different players finished with points in the win.
Devin Hill was the lone Anchorwomen to finish in double-digits, as she finished with a game-high 23 points and nine rebounds. The senior forward ended the day 8-for-18, but also added eight of the Anchorwomen's 29 turnovers.
Alex Moore, the team's second-leading scorer, added just three points, but also finished with a team-high six assists.
After a season-high four-game road trip, UMass Boston looked extremely comfortable in their first home game since January 20.
UMass Boston opened the game on a 13-0 run over the opening 3:51. Geary recorded a layup and a 3-pointer during the stretch, while Murphy, Chantel Jordan (Brockton, Mass.) and Taje Burston (Springfield, Mass.) also factored in on the scoreboard.
The Anchorwomen cut the deficit to eight with less than 30 seconds to go in the first, but UMass Boston answered back with a 12-0 run. This time it was Mathieu leading the way, as she drained a 3-pointer and added two free throws, to push the lead to 32-13 with 7:19 to play in the first half.
UMass Boston added one final run to push the lead out to 21 at the break, as Geary and Mathieu scored the final six points of the half to make it 40-19 at the break.
Coming out of the break, UMass Boston used one final run to put the game away. Murphy and Hill traded baskets, but Burston and Geary tacked on 3-pointers and Murphy added a layup to push the lead to a game-high 29 points (50-21) with 5:48 to go in the third quarter.
From that point on UMass Boston cruised, as the Anchorwomen outscored them 26-23 the rest of the way.
BY THE NUMBERS
- UMass Boston shot a season-high 48.2 percent from the field and a season-high 47.8 percent from distance. The Beacons also set a new season-high in made 3-pointers with 11.
- On the other side, Rhode Island College knocked down just 31.4 percent (16-of-51) of their shots and 4-of-12 (33.3 percent) of their 3-point attempts.
- The Beacons also tied their season-high with 21 assists in the win.
- UMass Boston earned big advantages in points in the paint 32-18 and bench points 30-12.
- With the victory, UMass Boston earned their fourth-straight win over the Anchorwomen and improved to 13-56 all-time against Rhode Island College.

UMass Boston will head back out on the road on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m., as they travel to take on the University of Southern Maine.
