16 Saints Score in No. 1 Thomas More's Win Over Bethany

(CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky.) – 16 Saints reached the scoring column as the No. 1-ranked Thomas More College women's basketball team defeated Bethany College, 104-43, tonight (Wednesday, February 3, 2016) in a Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) game at the Connor Convocation Center in Crestview Hills, Kentucky.

With the win, the Saints remain undefeated at 19-0 overall and 13-0 in the PAC.  With the loss, the Bison fall to 8-12 overall and 6-7 in the PAC.

Thomas More jumped out to a 9-2 lead when freshman guard Madison Temple (Cincinnati, Ohio/Anderson) made a lay-up with 7:41 to play in the first quarter.  Bethany answered with an 11-4 run to tie the game at 13-13 with 4:30 to play in the first quarter when Ashley Duthie made a jumper.  The Saints closed out the quarter on an 11-2 run to take a 24-15 lead after one quarter when junior forward Kirsten Paul (Cincinnati, Ohio/Cincinnati Christian) made a jumper with four-seconds to play in the quarter.

The Saints out-scored the Bison 32-5 in the second quarter to lead 56-20 at halftime, 30-8 in the third quarter to lead 86-28  and 18-15 in the fourth quarter for the final score of 104-43.

Thomas More had a 42-10 advantage in points in the paint, 44-5 off turnovers and forced 35 Bison turnovers.

Temple and sophomore guard Abby Owings (Independence, Ky./Simon Kenton) led the team in scoring with 18 points each, while senior guard/forward Sydney Moss (St. Albans, W.Va./Boone County (Ky.)) added 16 points.  Senior forward Samantha Cady (St. Anthony, Minn./St. Anthony Village) led the team on the boards with seven rebounds, while Moss led the team in assists with eight.

Thomas More returns to action on Saturday (February 6) when it hosts Thiel College at 1 p.m. at the Connor Convocation Center.
