FARMINGTON, Maine – The University of Maine at Farmington women's basketball team (9-6, 7-2) battled North Atlantic Conference rival Colby-Sawyer College (10-6, 7-3) and came away with a 67-63 win on Saturday afternoon in Dearborn Gymnasium.

The Beavers had a pair of starters tally double figures as Meghan Smith (Boothbay, Maine/Boothbay Region) powered UMF's offense with 16 points, eight rebounds, three assists, one steal, and one block. Kelly Pomerleau (Turner, Maine/St. Dominic) netted 13 points on 3-of-6 shooting from the floor and made 6-of-8 attempts from the foul line. Kennadi Grover (Cushing, Maine/Oceanside) added 10 points for the Beavers off the bench.

Amanda Calvo led the Chargers with a game-high 18 points on 7-of-17 shooting and made four shots from long range. Lexi Iannone added 12 points and five rebounds for Colby-Sawyer and fellow starter, Jessica Shenkel, also had 10 points on the afternoon.

The game was competitive until the final buzzer sounded as neither team trailed by more than eight points. Leading by two headed into the final quarter, the Beavers opened the final period with a 14-7 run to build some breathing room.

In the closing 30 seconds, the Chargers came with the full court pressure and got a pair of breakaway layups to close the gap to 65-63. After a Colby-Sawyer desperation foul with a second remaining, Pomerleau nailed both attempts from the line to put the game away.

UMaine-Farmington travels to Colby on Tuesday in the non-conference finale.
