SCHENECTADY, NY -- Amy Fisher scored a career high 24 points and Natalie Leone scored 13 as the Union College women's basketball team improved to 12-4 with a 65-52 home win over St. Lawrence at the Viniar Athletic Center Saturday. The Dutchwomen are now 7-2 in Liberty League play, while the Saints (12-4 overall) are 5-2 in the league.
Fisher made nine of 12 shots and added four rebounds. Abby Katz scored 10 and made six free throws and Erin Lyons had a team high eight rebounds. Union shot 45% and forced 18 Saint turnovers and held St. Lawrence to 32% shooting.
Caroline Dalton scored 17 for the Saints, and Kaelyn Kohlasch scored 12 with Ellie Gonyeau hitting for 10 with a game high nine rebounds. The Saints had a 38-33 rebouding advantage in the contest.
Union entered Friday in first place but after losing at Skidmore and St. Lawrence's win at RPI, the Saints entered Saturday in first in the jumbled league standings.
Union led 13-11 after the first quarter and 32-21 by halftime. After three quarters, Union was up 50-37. The Dutchwomen had an 18 point lead as a three pointer by Fisher with 8:04 left in the fourth made it 58-40. That capped an 8-0 run in a span of 1:35 and Union never trailed by less then 13 the rest of the contest.
The Dutchwomen remain home to host league rival William Smith Tuesday night at 6 p.m.
