Barnes Leads Old Westbury Past FSC

Farmingdale, N.Y. - In a Skyline matchup with Old Westbury this afternoon, the Farmingdale State women's basketball team fell, 73-48. Junior center Crystal Barnes (Brooklyn, N.Y.) scored 14 points and had 26 rebounds in the win for the Panthers.

Old Westbury (14-3, 9-1) held a 2-point edge at 10-8 and the Panthers closed the first quarter on a 9-0 run to extend the lead to 19-8.

After a pair of Camille Romero (Queens, N.Y.) free-throws to start the second cut the FSC deficit to 19-10, Old Westbury answered with five straight points to take a 24-10 lead with 4:38 left in the first half. The Panthers led 35-17 at the break as Barnes led the way with six points and 14 rebounds.

Over the first 3:43 of the third quarter, Old Westbury outscored the Rams 12-2 to extend their advantage to 47-19. After FSC closed to 49-27, the Panthers ended the quarter on a 9-0 run and led 58-27.

Farmingdale State scored 21 points in the fourth quarter but dropped the conference matchup, 73-48.

Junior guard Jasmine Robinson (Greensburgh, N.Y.) scored a game-high 17 points, had six assists and six steals for Old Westbury.

The FSC women's basketball team returns to action on Saturday, January 30th when they travel to Mount Saint Vincent for a conference game tipping at 1:00 p.m.
