On Friday night at Horst Athletic Center, there was no better duo than Lancaster Bible seniors Aubrey Folger and Katy Stover as the dynamic pair combined for 50 points in the Chargers 78-62 victory over Wells. The victory gives Lancaster Bible double-digit wins for the sixth consecutive season as the Chargers improved to 10-3 overall and 7-1 in North Eastern Athletic Conference play. The Express dropped to 10-6 overall and 6-3 in conference action.

How it Happened: Despite the fact both teams played a little less than 20 hours prior Friday afternoon's 4 p.m. tip-off, Lancaster Bible and Wells had no trouble finding their offensive groove as the teams combined for 42 first quarter points. A layup from Shanice Smith gave the Chargers a 15-9 lead with 4:34 to play in the opening quarter, but Wells scored the game's next nine points and grabbed an 18-15 lead with 2:56 to play thanks to a layup from Ashida Cooper.

Lancaster Bible did not panic and took a 22-20 lead after one quarter thanks to a bucket from Folger with 19 seconds to play. For the third time in three games this week, the second quarter belonged to the Chargers as they outscored the Express, 17-8. In three second quarters this week, Lancaster Bible outscored its opponents, 64-21, and leading the way on Friday night in the second frame were Folger and Stover. The pair scored 12 of the team's 17 points and Stover's defense on the other end of the floor helped shut down a Wells offense that was averaging 68 points a game coming into the game.

After leading 39-28 at the break, Lancaster Bible opened the third quarter on a 13-6 run and took a 52-34 lead after a three-point play from Folger with 5:41 to play. Lancaster Bible's lead would eventually grow to 28 points at 67-39 and the Chargers led 67-41 after three quarters.

To its credit, Wells never quit in the fourth quarter and though they never got any closer than 16 points, the Express did have four players score in double figures. Folger had six of the Chargers' 11 fourth-quarter points and tied her season-high with 27 points.

By the Numbers: Lancaster Bible shot 30-of-57 (52.6 percent) from the floor, the team's second-best mark of the season...The Chargers were also 14-of-17 (82.4 percent) from the free throw line...Folger's 27 points came off of 12-of-18 shooting from the floor and a 3-of-3 effort from the free throw line...Stover finished with 23 points on 9-of-14 shooting, including a 3-of-7 mark from 3-point range...Junior Kirsten Webster was the only other Lancaster Bible player in double figures as she had 10 points and was 7-of-8 from the free throw line...Junior Krissy Pennell had six points and matched a career-high with 13 assists...Jasmine Thomas led Wells with 13 points.

The Coach Says: "We were a little tired in the first half, but it appeared they were too," Lancaster Bible Head Coach Katelyn Vanderhoff said. "We still shot the ball well, but we challenged the team at halftime to turn it up a notch and build on our lead. The collective team effort in the second half was great and they didn't focus on the fact they were tired, but did exactly what we asked of them and built on their lead."

On Katy Stover..."She has improved tremendously since the beginning of the season," Vanderhoff said. "She isn't just a 3-pointer shooter. She can put the ball on the floor and drive the hoop and her defense has been excellent this season."

On the Chargers going 3-0 this week..."We had a challenging week," Vanderhoff said. "We had to overcome last Saturday's overtime loss and play three quality teams this week. I thought we got better each game this week and fought hard for 40 minutes in each game."

On three more games next week, all of which are NEAC South Division contests..."Those games are very important for us and we have to keep getting better," Vanderhoff said. "We have to show up each night next week and be disciplined with what we do on both ends of the floor."
