NOTRE DAME, Ind. – Jay Bard scored seven points in the third quarter to push Albion College to a 62-54 victory over Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association rival Saint Mary's College Wednesday night.

Bard, a first-year guard from Lansing who matched her career-high with 18 points, ripped off seven points during a 1 ½ minute span late in the third quarter as the Britons built a 15-point cushion.

"It was another great win on the road, a good team effort," Albion Head Coach Doreen Carden said after her team improved to 6-10 overall and 3-5 against MIAA rivals. "Jay was a big spark for us during that (third quarter run)."

Albion outscored Saint Mary's, 21-6, in the third quarter, and it held off Saint Mary's in the fourth. Gabby Diamond hit a pair of shots to help the Belles on a 12-0 run over the first four minutes of the fourth quarter.

Albion never surrendered the lead as Bard hit a pair from the line and Oreyana Curry tacked on a layup to boost the margin to seven, 55-48, with 2 ½ minutes to play.

Bard shot 6-of-11 from the field and 6-of-9 from the free throw line. Curry added 12 points and Darian Payne produced her ninth double-double of the season with 11 points and 17 rebounds.

Diamond led Saint Mary's with 12 points, while Eleni Shea led the starters with 10.

Albion will take a break from conference play Saturday when it travels to Chicago for a matchup with Illinois Tech. The tip is scheduled for 3 p.m. Eastern time.
