MILWAUKEE -- Tuesday night's 85-74 victory over visiting Concordia University Chicago gave Alverno College consecutive wins for the first time this season.
The Inferno (8-8, 5-6 Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference) also scored over 80 points for back-to-back games and improved its record to 4-0 in such contests.
Four Alverno players scored in double figures led by Brooke McBain's game-high 20 points. The senior forward shot 9-of-16 from the field which included 2-of-4 from 3-point range as she tied her career high.
Mollie Mikyska tallied 18, Julie Gallegos was 3-of-5 from downtown for 16 and Mackenzie Mathiesadded 11 points and a team-best six assists. Gabby Hood chipped in eight to go with her team-high 10 rebounds.
The Inferno led after each quarter and used a 10-0 run early in the fourth to go up 69-58 and didn't let the Cougars (6-9, 4-7 NACC) closer than six points the final six minutes.
Alverno was able to overcome 20 turnovers, in part due to a 49-37 advantage in rebounds and an impressive 47-percent shooting.
Next up for the Inferno is a Saturday trip crosstown against Wisconsin Lutheran College. Tipoff is at 2 p.m. at WLC's Recreation Complex.
