Lake Forest Falls at Chicago in Season Opener

Michelle Ricolcol led Lake Forest with 14 points and K.C. Stralka with 13 rebounds but the Foresters dropped their season opener at the University of Chicago 56-46 on Saturday.

Lake Forest outscored the home team by one in each of the first two quarters and led 28-26 at halftime. The Foresters shot 43.3 percent from the field and connected on two of three attempts from three-point range in the half. 

The score was tied at 34 before the Maroons finished off the third quarter with a 5-2 run. Lake Forest came back and tied the score again at 41 with 5:50 to play. The home team scored the next five points but led by just two (46-44) with 3:43 remaining. Chicago then pulled away by scoring on its final five possessions of the game. The Foresters made just six of 32 field goal attempts and missed all eight of their three-pointers after halftime.

Lake Forest was out-shot 48-36 in the contest, despite Stralka's game-high 13 and nine, including seven at the offensive end of the court, by Forester freshman forward Paige Bobos.

The Foresters will open Midwest Conference play against Cornell College next Saturday at 5:00 p.m.
