Turnovers Doom Foresters at St. Norbert

Senior forward K.C. Stralka posted her third double-double of the season but the Lake Forest College women's basketball team was defeated 58-39 at St. Norbert College Tuesday night.

Stralka led the Foresters with 10 points, 11 rebounds, three assists, three steals, and three blocked shots. She also committed just one of the team's 25 turnovers in 37 minutes of play. Sophomore guard Tara Gloystein was next on the squad with nine points and senior guard Michelle Ricolcol added eight points and a career-high-tying nine rebounds.

Lake Forest shot just 29.2 percent from the field and 2-for-10 from three-point range. The Green Knights were only slightly better, connecting on 34.1 percent if their field goal attempts and on five of 17 shots from beyond the arc. The Foresters were 9-for-10 and the home team 13-for-20 from the foul line. St. Norbert had a 40-35 edge in rebounds.

The visitors scored the game's first five points and led 14-13 after the opening period. St. Norbert took the lead for good on a three-pointer to open the second quarter and opened up a six-point lead (27-21) at the half.

The Foresters trimmed the deficit to just three points (32-29) on a basket by Stralka with 2:25 to play in the third quarter but St. Norbert closed out the period with eight straight points. Already ahead by double figures, the Knights rattled off nine points in a row in the fourth quarter to put the game out of reach.

Lake Forest is now 3-3 overall this season and 2-2 in Midwest Conference play. St. Norbert improved to 5-2 overall and 4-0 in the league.

The Foresters' next two games will be played in Holland, Michigan, at the Hope College Post Exam Jam. Lake Forest will take on Alma College at 6:00 p.m. (EST) on Friday, December 18, before facing the hosts at 3:00 the following afternoon.
