GETTYSBURG, Pa. – The Gettysburg College women's basketball team connected on a season-high 11 three-pointers on the way to a 68-45 victory over visiting Washington College inside Bream Gym on Tuesday night.
Gettysburg (8-3, 3-3 CC) finished 11-of-19 (57.9 percent) from beyond the arc and finished two treys shy of the program's single-game record. Senior Jessica Porter (Narberth, Pa./Lower Merion) tied her personal high with four three-pointers and finished with her third double-double of the season with 21 points and 10 rebounds. Porter is now just 10 points shy of reaching 1,000 for her career.
The Bullets never trailed against Washington (3-8, 0-5 CC). Leading 13-11 in the first quarter, a three-pointer by freshman Shannon Tobin (Newark, Del./Caravel Academy) sparked a 12-1 run. A lay-up by Porter put the score at 25-12 with 7:15 remaining in the first half.
Gettysburg surged into the break with an 11-0 run. Porter connected on back-to-back shots from beyond the arc to set the score at 38-17 going into the locker rooms.
The lead dipped to 16 to start the second half, but another 11-point outburst set the margin to 27 (49-22) with 4:26 left in the third quarter. Gettysburg's advantage would remain above 20 the rest of the way.
The hosts finished 23-of-59 (39 percent) from the field, while the visitors finished 17-of-58 (29.3 percent). Gettysburg out-rebounded Washington 46-31.
Eleven players found the scoring column for the Bullets. Joining Porter in double-figures were freshman Emma Dorshimer (Jenkintown, Pa./Jenkintown) and sophomore Emily Gibbons (Annapolis, Md./Severn School). Dorshimer dropped in a dozen points while going 4-of-7 from the field, while gibbons finished with 11 points and seven rebounds. Senior Kim Ryan (Garden City, N.Y./Garden City) dished out six assists.
Ali Grundy paced Washington with 19 points.
Gettysburg travels to Ursinus College on Thursday with tip-off at 6 p.m.
