The St. John Fisher College women's basketball program opened the game with a 28-0 run, shooting a perfect 6-for-6 from 3-point range, and cruised to an 88-41 win over visiting Alfred University on Tuesday night.
With the win, Fisher improves to 3-0 in the Empire 8 and 10-2 overall. Alfred is now 1-12, 0-4.
Fisher shot 22-of-35 (62.9%) from the floor in the first half, including 7-of-9 from beyond the arc, as the Cardinals led 56-11 after two quarters.
Senior Mary Kate Cusack tallied 18 points, five assists and five steals, while shooting 4-for-4 from 3-point range in 13 minutes over action over the first two quarters. She finished the game with 23 points in just 17 minutes of action.
Junior Emily Piacentini totaled 15 points, three assists and two steals in 15 minutes. Caroline Robertson added 11 points, while Maria Kelleher (10) also finished in double figures.
Alyssa Robens scored seven and blocked two shots, while Jessica Rhone tallied six points and a team-high five rebounds. McKenzie Bezon also scored six and dished out four assists.
Fisher will return to action at 8 p.m. on Thursday at Nazareth College. It will be Fisher's fourth game in a six-day span.
